WikiLeaks release more damning emails hacked from email accounts tied to Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign, this time showing Chelsea Clinton’s husband using charity poker tournaments organised by The Clinton Foundation as a vehicle to tap up prospects for his hedge fund.
Hillary Clinton’s journey towards the apex of the world’s leaders suffered another wobble on Sunday after WikiLeaks released more emails hacked from John Podesta’s Gmail account.
The latest trail of lies and deceit shows evidence that Chelsea Clinton’s husband, Marc Mezvinsky used charity poker tournaments set up to raise funds for the Clinton Foundation as a vehicle to attract wealthy investors to his Hedge Fund.
According to an article written in Politico, emails and memos written in 2011 & 2012 by the former Clinton aide Doug Band contained evidence that Mezvinsky was tapping up powerful donators to the Clinton Foundation with the help of his wife, Chelsea. Mezvinsky was working for Goldman Sachs at the time of the emails, although he was busy trying to create his Hedge Fund call Eaglevale Partners. The emails were sent to Podesta and former deputy White House counsel to Bill Clinton, Cheryl Mills. Podesta is the chairman of Hillary Clinton’s Presidential Campaign.
Band intimated in a Jan 2012 email that Mevinsky needed to use his ties with the Clintons and their Foundation because he was struggling to gain traction with Eaglevale Partners under his own steam. Billionaire Haim Saban has donated $25m to the Clinton Foundation while also investing in Eaglevale. British investment banker Jacob Rothschild and Hedge Fund manager Marc Lasry also have feet in both camps.
Details of which poker tournament Mevinsky targeted for his undercover hedge fund work remains a secret, but it is widely known that he attended several of these events, along with Bill Clinton, and our very own Phil Hellmuth.
