BetVictor kicks off Euro 2016 punter push with The Million Pound Goal promo

betvictor-million-pound-goal-euro-2016Online bookmaker BetVictor has kicked off what promises to be a particularly sharp-elbowed fight for Euro 2016 punters’ hearts, minds and wallets by offering £1m to a very special prognosticator.

Euro 2016 officially gets underway on June 10 and bookmakers are already fighting tooth and nail for a slice of the billions of pounds expected to be wagered on the quadrennial UEFA competition.

This week, BetVictor announced the launch of The Million Pound Goal promotion, which requires punters to identify who’ll score the first goal in the final match, along with the minute the goal is scored.

To qualify for entry, punters must place a minimum £5 bet on any Euro 2016 match or the tournament winner market. In an email to CalvinAyre.com, BetVictor’s Charlie McCann explained: “Punters can earn an additional prediction by placing an additional five qualifying bets and going forward in multiples of five throughout the tournament.”

This means that customers who placed a £5 bet on every game during Euro 2016 would earn 11 predictions for the final, in addition to the predictions they can earn via BetVictor’s new Euro 2016 slots title and virtual sports offering.

Qualified punters will be allowed to make their selections once the two final teams are determined following the second semi-final on July 7. Precisely how the crucial goal is scored matters not – even an own goal counts – so long as the categories of ‘who’ and ‘when’ prove a match.

If one winner correctly predicts the two data points, he/she will collect the full £1m. If multiple entries get it right, the £1m will be split among the winners. Should no punter prove sufficiently prescient, the prize will go to the next closest entry.

The campaign, which is being promoted across TV, radio, print, digital and outdoor advertising, was created in conjunction with BetVictor’s creative agency Mr President. The promos (samples viewable below) feature the dulcet tones of legendary football commentator Barry Davies.

Of course, CalvinAyre.com’s attention will be focused on the real Euro 2016 competition, namely, which Asian nation will bust more illegal betting operators. Vietnam had a pretty strong showing during Euro 2012, but the smart money’s on Malaysia this time around.
