Poker Central, the world’s only 24/7 poker TV network, is teaming up with PokerNews to launch a new weekly poker news show called Primetime Poker Report.
Poker Central is fast becoming a poker channel worth watching.
I must admit, I didn’t join the fan club after they launched with a roster chocked full of programming from the days of Cine Film, but they are slowly introducing some original programming, and that continues in May with the launch of Primetime Poker Report.
Poker Central will partner with PokerNews on the new show. Donnie Peters, Editor-in-Chief, and Global Poker Index (GPI) American Poker Awards (APA), Media Person of the Year, will host. According to the press release, a series of guest co-hosts as well as a team of regular contributors, will join Peters on the show.
The new show is essentially a poker news show. It premieres Wednesday, May 18, and will be aired every Wednesday after that. I think the addition of a poker news show to Poker Central’s programming is a smart idea and one that fits perfectly into the channel’s vision of the future.
Dan Russell, Senior Vice President or Programming at Poker Central, is looking forward to their partnership with Peters and his team at PokerNews calling them an ‘extremely valuable addition to Poker Central’s television lineup.’
Las Vegas-based Farra productions, and their co-executive producers, Dave Farra, and Matt Brown, will produce the show. Despite spending most of his time jetting around the globe overseeing PokerNews live tournament coverage, Peters is based in Las Vegas, so one assumes he will be dropping the anchor.
Poker Central got a real shot in the arm recently when they agreed a deal with Alex Dreyfus‘s Mediarex Sports & Entertainment to show coverage of the Global Poker League (GPL). It’s the hottest show in the world of poker right now, and Poker Central is the place to be if you want to watch the GPL on TV.
They also recently signed a deal with the Bicycle Casino in California to take over the tried and tested Live at the Bike, a show featuring live cash games and tournaments from one of the grooviest card rooms in America. Maria Ho recently popped in to play a few hands live on camera. Ho, the manager of the GPL franchise LA Sunset, is an integral part of the Poker Central team thanks to her Poker Central Live Twitch stream, which has been another big hit with poker fans around the world.
