Texas Tech helmsman Patrick Mahomes II is one of only six passers in the history of FBS national college athletic association football to have passed for 4,000 yards and run for over 450 yards in a season. In addition, Mahomes is one of only five quarterbacks to throw for over 4,000 yards, rush for 450 yards, throw 30 or more touchdown passes and rushed for 10 touchdowns in a year. Mahomes is the youngest player in NCAA history to accomplish both feats.
To compliment their passing game is their running game spearheaded by starting back DeAndre Washington who continues to climb up the national ranking charts. Washington leads the Big 12 and ranks No. 12 nationally in rushing yards (1,455), ranks No. 14 nationally in all-purpose yards (146.6), No. 14 in rushing yards per carry (6.5) and No. 17 in rushing touchdowns (14). Thus far this year, Washington has amassed 1,455 yards on 223 carries (6.5 yards per rush) along with a team-best 14 touchdowns and has caught 34 passes for 304 yards and two touchdowns.
The Red Raiders defense is their primary set back as they graciously surrender 543 total yards while allowing 42 points per encounter.
In their last 4 matchups, the LSU Tigers finished their season by going a dismal 1 and 3 allowing a total of 106 points while only scoring 66 points. That’s one problem but the other problem is the Tigers are used to playing for the National Championship. The aforementioned factors will make LSU play lackluster football at critical times of the game.
