Jason Koon delivers a Tuesday double whammy after taking down the Super Tuesday $1,000 buy-in event on PokerStars, before heading to Los Angeles and winning the $50,000 High Roller Turbo Six-Handed event at the World Poker Tour LA Poker Classic.
The Boomtown Rats didn’t like Monday’s.
The Rolling Stones missed their Ruby Tuesday’s.
I’ll stick with the Tuesday’s. I have always been more Stones than Rats. I think Jason Koon probably feels the same.
Whilst the chiseled jaw man mountain of muscle may be too young to remember either aforementioned giants of the UK music scene, he will have fresh memories of recent Tuesday’s when he felt on top of the mountains he often likes to climb before breakfast.
24 Feb 2015; Jason Koon, an American who is not allowed to play online poker in his home country because his country is a fucked up mess, travels to Canada to play in the $1,000 Super Tuesday on PokerStars.
I can hear the Muggles from here.
“Why would anyone travel to Canada to play an online poker tournament?”
Jason Koon now has $111,699 reasons why after topping a field of 591 players. The final table included players from Australia, Romania, Brazil, Sweden, Lithuania, Switzerland and Poland. Then there were two Americans forced into a temporary emigration due to draconian measures. Three time Sunday Tuesday winner, Jason Wheeler, can be found grinding in a hut somewhere in Mexico (that’s if you can see him through all of the smoke), and Koon travels to Canada.
It wouldn’t be a fourth title for Wheeler. He finished at the bottom of the one ladder that was important on that night. Koon finished on the top of it. Here are the final table positions.

A Super Tuesday in LA
After his win, Koon jumped on a flight and headed to Los Angeles. It was the World Poker Tour (WPT) L.A. Poker Classic and he decided to get involved in the $50,000 Turbo High Roller 6-Max event.
It was a wise decision.
The tournament contained 31-entries and Koon cut a three way deal with JC Tran and Connor Drinnan. The other two players to cash were Nam Le and Jack Salter. The $436,344 first prize was the largest of Koon’s career, and takes his total live tournament earnings over the $3.1m mark, but more importantly, it was his first live tournament victory since 2011.
Let the winning ways begin.
