The Amateur Poker Association & Tour (APAT) has released the schedule for the seventh annual World Championships of Amateur Poker (WCOAP), and it looks like a cracker.
The Amateur Poker Association & Tour (APAT) have taken a leaf out of the World Series of Poker (WSOP) marketing guidebook by releasing details of their piece de resistance whilst the turkey is still sliding down the gullet.
The seventh annual World Championships of Amateur Poker (WCOAP) will be hosted by Aspers Casino in Stratford 28 March – 6 April 2015 and the organizers are promising the widest variety of poker games outside of the WSOP.
The series will host 20 bracelet events in poker derivatives ranging from Texas Hold’em, Omaha, Stud, Razz, H.O.R.S.E, Crazy Pineapple and Open Face Chinese. There are also an extremely wide variety of formats with Shootouts, Ante Only, Six-Max, Heads-Up and Cash Championships keeping everyone busy.
The World Amateur Team Championships will also make an appearance at the WCOAP with France looking to retain the crown they plonked on their head back on 2014; England were the winners in 2013 and will once again have a strong presence in the 2015 competition.
Team competitions are going to be all the rage during 2015 as The Global Poker Masters (GPM) will also introduce their first team championship format during the European Poker Tour (EPT) Maltese Festival 18-28 March 2015.
The WSOP also gave fans a pre-Christmas teaser when they recently released news of a series of events planned for 2015, including a $565 buy-in event known as The Colossus, and the return of the $10 million winners prize in the $10,000 WSOP Main Event.
If you prefer your buy-ins a tad cheaper, prefer your fields to be a little weaker, and have a little bit of B.A Baracus and Dennis Bergkamp about you, then stick with the WCOAP in Stratford. Buy-ins for the side events will be £55, the Main Event & Team Events will be £110 and the highest buy-in event will be a £220 High Roller.
