An Audio Interview With Benjamin Pollak at the WPT Barcelona
Only one of six players can win the World Poker Tour (WPT) Barcelona and the smart money is on Benjamin Pollak. The French cash game and tournament professional is an experienced WPT campaigner, and he is running off the back of three WPT National Series cashes in Mauritius, Brussels and London.
Pollak starts in second place after winning his €3,200 + €300 buy-in playing in the juicy cash games at the Casino Barcelona. Pollak has made two previous WPT final tables. In Season IX, he made the final table of the €5,000 WPT Diamond Championships in Paris where he finished fifth, and then last season he finished fourth in the €3,200 WPT Main Event in Prague.
“I was very disappointed in Prague, because I made one big mistake at the final table. But that’s poker, and I will learn from it and not make the same mistake twice.”
Pollak is currently representing the .fr brand of Betclic Everest Group and will be wearing the patch when he takes his seat at the final table perched in second place with 1,899,000 chips. Pollak is one of many French professional poker players who now lives in London due to the confused tax rules in his home country.
“It’s not very clear in France and as such all of the players are in trouble. The government want’s to take 40%, and sometimes 80% of winnings. So I have decided to move to London instead.”
The final table of WPT Barcelona starts at 14:00 (CET).
