Michael Phelps may be universally lauded for being the greatest Olympian in history, but the 27-year old swimmer is proving to be equally adept at the felt as he is on the pool. In a recent run at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, TMZ is reporting that Phelps had quite the time on the felt, winning $100,000 in a poker game.
Guess that answers the question on whether the man’s ready to take his talents to the poker world, huh?
Since staking his claim as the most storied Olympian of all time after winning six more Olympic medals in London to drive up his total medal count to 22, Phelps has been living the life of the rockstar. Appearances left and right has become quite the norm for Michael and when he and his entourage landed in Vegas, he wasted little time showing his buddies – and everybody else, for that matter – that he could flex his proverbial muscles when the cards started flying in the air.
As we all know by now, the man with the golden butterfly stroke loves playing poker. In fact, he’s gone stroke-for-stroke with some of the best poker players in the world and has come out on the money list in a number of tournaments. So this guy knows how to play the game, and after his six-figure run in Vegas, he’s also proven that he’s not to be taken lightly.
About the only thing missing from his rather successful Sin City romp was a strip billiards game with leaked photos showing off his smooth bumpin’ hiney for the world to see. Oh wait, somebody else already took care of that.
We certainly respect your skills on the pool and the poker table, Michael Phelps. Unfortunately, though, you can’t win everything, because when it comes to all-around Vegas debauchery, Prince Harry has you beat.
