PhilWeb awarded Timor- Leste mobile gaming license

Mobile Gaming MarketArguably, every online gaming operator should be looking to stamp their presence in some capacity in the Asian gaming market. Philweb seems to have figured out a way to do exactly that.

Philweb is now preparing to launch a full suite of mobile games including SMS-based instant win games, under the Gold Mobile brand after being granted a mobile gaming licence in the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste.

PhilWeb president Dennis Valdes said in the release, “Our track record in mobile gaming was critical to the government of East Timor in granting us this license.”

The deal marks part of the initiative by PhilWeb to push its expansion in the Asia-Pacific region. Valdes has spoken in the past about the company’s expectations moving forward, and touted the company’s plans to launch internet café style Pagcor E-Games (PEGS) locations along the borders of Laos/Thailand, Laos/China and in Vietnam and Cambodia. Valdes believed that “in the next three to five years, our overseas business should be as big or even bigger than our domestic business.”

With the new mobile gaming license and PhilWeb ready to work closely with the leading telecommunication company in Timor-Leste, the launch of Gold Mobile could prove quite profitable to the company.
