This August, the Asian Poker Tour (APT) Asian Series in Manila, Philippines will feature the biggest Heads Up tournament the APT has seen so far. The opening event of the APT Asian Series Manila gets underway on August 17. There is a maximum of 128 places available and the buy-in has been slashed significantly. Originally entry would have set you back Php 19,600 but now it’s a mere Php 11,000.
There will be two separate flights starting at 1pm and 3pm and those that are eliminated from the first 64 players can enter flight B if there are still spaces available. The last time the event took place, with 64 players, it was sold out a full two weeks before it took place so if you want to enter the advice would be to act fast. It’s not one of the fastest growing poker tours for no reason.
It has also been confirmed by the organizers that the same re-entry rules will apply to the APT Asian Series Manila Main Event. It means that players eliminated on day 1A of the event on August 20 will have another chance to enter the following day. This is commonplace in many jurisdictions and has been put in place thanks to player feedback. APT CEO, Jeff Mann, commented, “At our last APT Asian Series in Cebu we saw a mix of regional, international and local players, and many of those players came up to me personally and suggested the re-entry format. After countless meetings with my tournament staff, we’ve concluded there are nothing but positives across the board in offering re-entries.”
At least this will mean more time to explore the fabulous surroundings Manila has to offer.
