Intralot has for a second year in a row announced that its Italian subsidiary, Intralot Italia, will be a Gold Sponsor for a tennis tournament early next month. The “Internazionali BNL” Tennis Championships take place at the Foro Italico in Rome between May 7 and May 15.
Enea Ruzzettu, CEO of INTRALOT Italia, stated: “By sponsoring this event we aim at strengthening the connection between sports and gaming, which we have always supported. We want to situate gaming within a real entertainment area, so as to make it an enjoyable and responsible experience. Hence our idea of creating an entertainment area will promote both sociability and the new gambling culture that is gradually developing.”
Last year, we saw 400,000 visitors come through the gates and Intralot will be hoping it gives them more exposure in this fast growing market. Spanish world number one Rafa Nadal currently holds the men’s title after seeing off David Ferrer last year, with the woman’s trophy won by Maria Jose Martinez Sanchez.
Over at Sin City, the executive chairman of the board at Ameristar casinos has announced his plans to stand down. Ray Neilsen has been at the company since 1991 and will leave the company on May 5.
Neilsen commented, “It is now time for me to shift my attention to The Craig H. Neilsen Foundation established by my father and significantly expand my work on its programs focused on spinal cord injury (SCI) scientific research, quality-of-life for SCI patients and adult literacy and education.”
“I am looking forward to a new chapter in my life, and I know I am leaving the Company in the hands of talented and capable people.”
During his time with the company, he held a number of positions at several different locations and Ameristar owes much of their success to Ray and the Neilsen family.
