The fate of a proposed casino and hotel complex in downtown Vancouver is to be decided by the city council later today. The Edgewater Place casino expansion at BC Place has costs of around $500million and would become the largest casino in Canada west of Ontario. Paragon Gaming has signed a tentative agreement with B.C. Pavilion Corp. to build the casino with two hotels, 1,500 slot machines and 150 tables. The slot machines were then downgraded to 1,200. The decision is likely to be made based on considerations made in relation to the jobs and money it will provide to the local economy against whether problem gambling will increase.
