Text-based lotto game headed to the Philippines

Philippine LotteryWhile the Philippines isn’t the first place one would think of when it comes to online gambling, the southeast Asian country has been making strides to accommodate gamers looking for mild online thrills with games like pai gow and bingo. Now there’s a new game coming to Manila as the Pacific Online Systems corporation has announced plans to bring a text-based lotto game to the country.

The game, which will be developed by software manufacturer DFNN, will enter a growing online gambling market in the Philippines, as the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (Pagcor) has already launched a number of similar products.

Yet the games must still earn the approval of Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO), something that Pacific Online’s chairman and president Willy Ocier says can’t come fast enough.

“For me, they should just go ahead with the business. We need to know also if text betting will be acceptable to the betting public,” Ocier told the ABS-CBN news. “We’d like [instant lotto gaming] to grow.”
