NetPlayTV raises cash, Samvo hires new marketer, Wizard Gaming packs it in

netplaytv-samvo-wizard-gamingAfter taking a bath on its Bingo Stars product, interactive gamers NetPlayTV have raised £2.5m via a share placing. Non-executive chairman Clive Jones says the extra change jingling in their pockets will help them complete their restructuring and (hopefully) return to profitability.

Asian-handicap football specialists Samvo Group (who recently signed on with Microgaming‘s poker network) have appointed David Miller as marketing chief. Miller, a 15-year vet of the video game biz, has previously held marketing positions as Namco Bandai, Virgin and Electronic Arts. The addition of Miller is designed to help Samvo in its quest to launch “a major new gaming, entertainment and leisure experience” in 2011.

Wizard Gaming, the Isle of Man-registered online gambling software provider, is calling it quits and auctioning off its assets for an estimated $300k. Despite having a unique product or two, the company had difficulty attracting sufficient licensees to make a go of things, and has decided to pass the torch onto somebody else.
