Much in the same way Bodog gained global notoriety for Bodog Fight and many other companies have their named plastered or tattooed on MMA fighters, now Full Tilt is sponsoring boxer Audley Harrison as he heads into a heavyweight title fight with David Haye in November.
It’s sad though, boxing has indeed fallen from the height of its popularity that it held when greats like Lennox Lewis were knocking cats out with clinical performances and Iron Mike Tyson was biting ears. That fact hasn’t stopped Full tilt from having Harrison represent them when he steps into the ring against Haye at the M.E.N Arena on November 13, in fight that already promises to be one of the biggest all-British fights the country has ever seen.
For Full Tilt, the publicity of having Harrison rep the company is priceless, and it’s strategic and well timed marketing moves like this that have made Full Tilt one of the fastest growing online poker sites around. Interestingly enough, Harrison himself is a bit of poker stud who came close to winning the deep stack event at the Venetian in July. No doubt Full Tilt is hoping Harrison is a better boxer than he is poker player.
