Backwards North Carolina pols ban ‘sweepstakes’ cafes

One step forward, two steps back… The minute some elected officials start to sound like rational thinkers by correctly identifying gambling as entertainment, officials in North Carolina trot out tired old memes that demonize gambling as “an industry for people who do not have a choice, who are addicted” as part of their successful move to officially legislate internet ‘sweepstakes’ parlors out of existence. There were some sentient dissenting voices, such as Rep.
