California town’s council rules that betting is entertainment

City Council officials in San Clemente, California have given the thumbs-up for a local tavern to open a mini-satellite off-track wagering facility on the premises. There are still a few legislative I’s to dot and T’s to cross, but the crucial bit of data is the Council’s ruling that horse-betting is consistent with other types of entertainment offered at a bar/restaurant, such as live music or sports on big screen TVs. Hear that? Betting isn’t society’s scourge or a live grenade lobbed under the family dinner table, but enter-fucking-tainment.
