Malaysian gov’t playing footsie with proposed footie bets

FootieBallThe issue of legalized sports betting has been brewing in Malaysia for some time now, but with the 2010 FIFA World Cup (the supposed impetus behind the proposal) drawing ever nearer, you would think the country’s deputy finance minister would be making more definitive statements than “This is not impossible.” No shit. Other things that are (technically) not impossible: BP being able to lower their 100-ton thimble on top of that leaking oil well, the new residents of Calvin Ayre’s old penthouse harpooning a whale from their balcony, and the Toronto Maple Leafs winning the Stanley Cup. You know what, forget that last one…
