Gambling Industry Getting Lion’s Share Of Haters

haterYou hear it all the time from the opposition, no more slots, no more casinos, no more online gambling legalization, no more bingo no more this, no more that. And that’s fine, people are always going to find things to oppose, but I can’t help but feel that the gambling industry always seems to get the lion’s share of the hate.

Recently in Quebec opponents of online gambling were calling for a halt to the provinces endeavor to join the industry and in Ontario many are guffawing over the government just considering online gambling expansion. Many of the opponents or as I term them, haters, are from social groups and health groups that oppose the detrimental effects that gambling will have on the population. On the west coast of Canada in BC, a very different situation is unfolding. Here you have an outcry to the government, for cutting funding to various arts, social and sports groups, but the interesting thing here is, where the funding was coming from. Yup, gambling revenue.

It’s not a secret that the gambling industry, particularly the regulated online gambling industry in many provinces is an extremely profitable enterprise. But what is often overlooked is that it is also a huge source of funding for many government programs, and while haters will still argue over the drawbacks, they then become complacent when they enroll their children into sports programs funded by government grants from gambling revenue. It’s always struck me as strange how that works. Perhaps even more strange is unfair amount of hate devoted to gambling, with the biggest concern being for an increase in gambling addictions.

Let’s look at another industry, namely, the porn industry. It’s also a huge multibillion dollar industry, it creates thousands of jobs, though many of the jobs blow…If you want to talk about addiction, then apparently research is showing there is also something called sex addiction, funny, how people always seem to get addicted to things like gambling and getting laid. It’s not hard to see why, but that’s another sensitive tissue er issue. The point is the porn industry doesn’t give shit back to the government, nor does it contribute to social programs, the only thing it does is makes dudes pop wood and visualize every pretty girl they see but naked in cheerleader highsocks, bent over a couch. I ain’t mad at it for doing so, but I don’t see the same contingent of haters rushing to oppose it, even though it arguably causes or contributes many of the problems that gambling allegedly does and certainly has its fair share of addicts as well. I can’t call it.

It’s about time that opponents of gambling start sipping on that hatorade for other things instead of focusing on one industry. We’ve heard of share the love, I’m saying share the hate, or maybe they would like to go fuck themselves…By watching porn that is.
