888Poker has inked a couple of deals in the past few days including sponsorship of the King’s Casino Deutsche Poker Tour and German Championships of Poker events, and with the Swedish Poker Federation to help with the online Swedish Poker Championships.
888Poker announced two tasty deals this week. The first is a partnership with King’s Casino in Rozvadov, Czech Republic. 888Poker will sponsor the Deutsche Poker Tour (DPT) and German Championships of Poker (GCOP), both held at the busy card room.
Eight GCOP and DPT events will take place at the King’s Casino in 2016. The DPT is a €159 buy-in with a €100,000 guarantee, and the GSOP is a €888 buy-in with a €200,000 guarantee. 888Poker have started running satellites for as low as one cent. Packages include buy-in and accommodation for the duration of the event. In addition to the backing of these developments, 888Poker will also host a series of 888Live Local events at the King’s Casino this year.
It’s the latest in a long series of alliances between online poker rooms and their brick and mortar counterparts. 888Poker recently announced plans to rebrand the Aspers Poker Room in their livery and host some 888Live Local events in the Stratford card room. Partypoker have a presence in Dusk till Dawn (DTD), and PokerStars have some them in strategic locations all over the world.
The King’s Casino is a prominent venue within the higher echelons of the poker community. They have a relationship with the nonprofit Raising for Effective Giving (REG) and sponsor some high stakes grinders affiliated with the effective altruists. In 2014, the casino’s owner Leon Tsoukernik won the 2015 Industry Person of the Year award at the Global Poker Index (GPI) European Poker Awards (EPA).
From the Czech Republic to Sweden
The second announcement from 888Poker HQ this week was a handshake with PokerEvent and the Swedish Poker Federation that will see them installed as a partner to the online Swedish Poker Championships 2016/17.
The series starts 24 May, and 888Poker will feature two tables per day leading up to the Main Event on 29 May. The winner of the online series wins a seat in the Poker-SM Live event in Malta.
The initial deal lasts for two years. 888Poker Ambassador Sofia Lovgren was over the moon about the news.
“I am looking forward to the championship,” said the Swedish pro, “As a Swede and ambassador for 888poker I think it’s great that we expand even more in my home country.”
