But that’s not to say Indians don’t enjoy gambling – many of them make regular pilgrimages to the region’s closest major gambling hub in Macau. And while the India Poker Series (currently under way at the Casino Royale Goa) isn’t going to make anybody forget about the World Series of Poker anytime soon, its main backer is fearlessly predicting that poker will eventually become the nation’s second most popular sport, after cricket.
