Bookies play Wimbledon weather sympathy card

Have you noticed how the bookmakers always make the headlines when they fare badly at a sporting event? Apparently, the Grand National was “a black armband day” for the bookies while Royal Ascot was “carnage” for the layers, but so far there’s been no mention of the squillions the betting industry is raking in on the World Cup. Now they are trying to pull the wool over the punters’ eyes by claiming that the good weather at Wimbledon has given them a “hammering”. The only thing getting hammered will be the oddsmakers at the post-World Cup piss-up in a week’s time. Read more.
