Car bombs, kidnaps and the Koran, but Iraqis keep on gambling
During the height of the sectarian bloodshed in a few years ago, one racetrack employee was kidnapped, a car bomb blew up near the entrance and several horse owners were forced to flee the country, but regardless of the troubles, and the fact that the Koran forbids gambling, horseracing is thriving at the Baghdad Equestrian Club.
