A year on from Russia’s declaration of war on internet and bricks and mortar casinos, the authorities are struggling to catch up with the illegal gambling industry.
Within a month of the introduction of some of the most restrictive gambling laws in Europe 465 lottery clubs and 89 groups of internet gamers had formed to find alternate foreign-based online casinos and poker rooms, not to mention the swathe of underground offline casinos that sprang up away from the gambling permitted areas of Krasnodar, Kaliningrad, Altai and Vladivostok.
