McCreedy will leave to the sound of popping corks in Paris

In another hammer blow for free trade in France, the French cabinet minister and rapporteur to the French parliament for the draft legislation on online gaming and betting, Francois Lamour, has publicly announced his delight at the departure of free market advocate Charlie McCreevey from his position as European commissioner for internal markets.

Lamour is also celebrating the fact McCreevey will be replaced by Michel Bernier, a close political advisor of the French President, Nicolas Sarkozy. Read more.
