The Story
Spain’s gambling regulator, the Dirección General de Ordenación del Juego (DGOJ), looks to keep the country’s problem gambling segments as one of the lowest among European Union (EU) countries that have legalized industries. Moving forward, gambling addiction will be considered a mental disorder in the country, and problem gamblers can now more easily seek treatment similar to what is afforded to other mental health disorders. As gambling becomes one of most talked about subjects within the EU, and in other regions, DGOJ and Responsible Gaming Advisory Council (CAJR) wants to curb out-of-control spending on gambling before it becomes a serious issue.
