The relatively nascent sports betting industry in Pennsylvania has taken a hit as figures showed the total handled wagers of the state’s licensed sportsbooks only amounted to $31.5m in February, while betting revenue totaled $1.95m. The Pennsylvania Gaming Board noted that last month’s numbers are below the $32m handle and $2.6m revenue the state reported in January. The figures may not be alarming at first but when you consider that only three sportsbooks were open for the full month of January, the numbers take on a new meaning.
