The Philippine Bureau of Immigration arrested 276 foreigners who were working for an online gambling company in the country’s financial district of Makati. BI Intelligence Division Chief Fortunato Manahan Jr. said the arrests were conducted “for verification of their travel documents and immigration status.” He said that while most of the foreigners were not able to present proper permits during the arrest, it remains to be seen if they were illegally working in the Philippines. Should it be proven that they were working in the country without visa and working permits, they will be deported.
