The Story

A New Jersey lawmaker did not mince words when he slammed professional sports leagues for requesting a 0.25% cut of all sports wagers to allegedly fund their ‘integrity’ effort.

New Jersey is set to pass its sports betting bill despite the pro leagues’ opposition.

Assemblyman Ralph Caputo, a longtime gaming advocate, called out the leagues’ “hypocrisy” and said pushing for the integrity fee is a “disgraceful” act to line the pockets of those who vehemently opposed legalized sports betting. When an MLB representative claimed that removing the integrity fee “does not give us the tools we need to protect our national pastime,” Caputo clapped back and said “the tool you’re looking for is money. That’s not going to happen.”
