The Story

Scandal-ridden former Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi might be the leader that the Italian gambling industry needs right now following the resignation of the new prime minister-designate Giuseppe Conte.

The newly–formed government fell apart because of a presidential rejection.

Italy’s President Sergio Mattarella’s rejection of the new coalition government’s choice for finance minister prompted Conte to resign. Thus, Italians would have to go to the polls once again to choose their leader—and Berlusconi might try his luck again for the position.

The former PM is expected to allow gambling operators to advertise on TV networks, a move that was frowned upon by the past government.
