The Story

Paddy Power Betfair (PPB) and FanDuel announced that they have reached an agreement to merge their U.S. businesses.

The deal was a life saver for FanDuel.

The merger will involve PPB’s U.S.-facing operations, which include the TVG online horseracing business and a Betfair-branded New Jersey online casino site. It is said that PPB hopes to convert FanDuel’s 1.3m active daily fantasy sports (DFS) players to sports betting patrons following the striking down of the federal sports betting ban in the U.S.

FanDuel’s deal with PPB will hopefully reverse the former's fortune after it failed to turn a profit despite enjoying a duopoly with DraftKings.
