The Story

Casino operator Crown Resorts Ltd. has completed the sale of its vacant Las Vegas lot to Wynn Resorts subsidiary Alon Las Vegas Resort LLC, which is part of the disposal of its $300m assets in the United States.

This marks the end of Crown Resorts’ expansion dreams.

The Australian-listed company initially planned to construct an integrated resorts called Alon on the lot. However, Crown failed to raise the $2b capital to set the construction of the project in motion. James Packer also conceded that the arrests of some of his staff in China affected their global expansion plans. The sale of the Las Vegas lot is part of a $566.79m package of asset sales in Australia and overseas which include the sale of around 4.2m shares in Caesars Entertainment Corporation and 50% interest in the Ellerston property in the NSW Hunter Valle; and the disposal of its 62% interest in online sportsbook CrownBet.
