American tribal gaming operators have supported the push for the legalization of sports betting.
That's good!
It is. The National Indian Gaming Association (NIGA) had signified its support to join the AGA's Coalition on Sports Betting.
What does the coalition do?
The coalition will convince the federal government to repeal and replace the 1992 Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act (PASPA).
The support of NIGA meant that it wants to offer sports betting in its properties.
NIGA said that it seeks "to coordinate with and provide feedback to the AGA with regard to tribal gaming concerns as the Coalition advances its policy objectives.”
AGA welcomed the "critical" support of NIGA.
AGA CEO Geoff Freeman said that “tribal engagement will help to move the needle forward."
But all eyes are still in the Supreme Court.
If you remember, the Supreme Court has signaled its intent to entertain the New Jersey's appeal last month, but has yet to set a date for oral argument.
