The Story | |||
Punters will soon be able to download their favorite mobile gambling apps on their Android phones after Google Play alerted gambling operators about the change in their gambling policy. |
Finally! |
A report by Degree53 said that Google has informed gaming firms that it will accept applications for the distribution of gambling apps within the Google Play store in the UK, France, and Republic of Ireland starting August 2017. |
The rollout will not be limited to those three countries. |
For punters who do not live in the UK, France, and Ireland, don’t fret. Google said that the policy change will also be implemented to new regions and counties “at a later date.” |
What are the requirements for application? |
The report said that gaming developers will be required to submit documentation supporting their licenses to operate in the jurisdictions where they wish to make their Android apps available. |
The policy shift is a leap from what Google has done in 2015. |
In 2015, Google slightly loosened its strict anti-gambling policy when it allowed a “closed, limited pilot” program permitting real-money daily fantasy sports betting apps in the US Google Play store. |
Takeaway |
Google’s softening stance against gambling is a win-win solution to operators who can attract new customers by making their games available on Google Play; and for players who will now have easy access on their favorite mobile gambling apps. |
