When the UIGEA put pay to the Global iGaming Summit and Expo (GiGSE) after its passing back in 2007 there was a void left on the conference circuit that was left waiting to be filled. However, what other gratification do you need apart from the recommendations of our very own Rebecca Liggero to reinstate the conference to the calendar?

Whether it was Becky lobbying for its return or that the US saw what they were missing after partying at other conferences, organizers gave us a GiGSE to remember earlier this year in the North American party destination of Montreal. The good news for anyone that attended, or wants to head to the expo in future, is that it is coming back for a second consecutive year – and there’s even a new venue for 2011’s edition.

Since the first expo in 1998 GiGSE has attempted to position itself in the best locations for the North American iGaming world, and this year San Francisco has been chosen as the location for their yearly shebang by organizers Clarion Gaming.

The expo itself comprises a number of different speakers who will be addressing the subjects that matter right now in the iGaming industry and that ones that will continue to affect the industry as time goes on. Amongst the issues discussed by panels in Montreal in 2010 were “Strategic debate: Intrastate vs. federal initiatives – the way forward” and “North American iGaming industry 2020: Impact of the iGaming regulations in North America on the industry’s dynamics.”

One attendee at last year’s event was Frank Pracukowski, Director of Administration at Foxwoods Development Company, who commented: “I was excited to see GIGSE return this year, the timing couldn’t have been better!!! The panels, debates, presenters and brainstorming sessions were exciting and informative.  I was able to create new contacts in the internet gaming industry.  I cannot wait for next year!!  Sign me up!”

In addition to Pracukowski, other speakers will include Ed Andrewes, Managing Director, Ladbrokes eGaming, Mitch Garber, CEO, Harrah’s Entertainment, Malcolm Graham, CEO, PKR, and Bill Rutsey, CEO, Canadian Gaming Association, with many others still to be announced.

So whether it’s poker news, casino news, sports book news, the gambling industry as a whole, or you just fancy a bunch of parties in San Francisco, GiGSE is where you’ll want to be this May 2011!
