Whether poker is a professional sport or not is fiercely contested debate, both activities tend to center around one or two big regional championships that the rest of the year builds up to. The U.S. has the main event of the World Series of Poker, in Australia they have the Aussie Millions finals and in Ireland there is Paddy Poker’s Irish Poker Open. The longest running no limit hold ’em tournament in Europe, the massive event regularly draws players from the Emerald Isle and the world at large and thanks to a recent extension from Paddy Power, players have more chances to participate in the tournament than ever before.
Paddy Power Poker has extended the number of satellite tournaments that will allow players to win their way into the world’s second largest poker tourny. The satellites, which were supposed to wrap up at the end of January, will run every Monday from now until the event begins on April 22.
The €20 + €2 rebuy satellites kick off every Monday at 8 P.M., with an entry into the company’s €100,000 Sole Survivor promotion also up for grabs to winners.
