Phil Laak probably slept like a contented baby after logging 115 hours of continuous poker play a couple weeks back, safe in the knowledge that he’d obliterated the existing record for poker endurance. But a couple problems have since surfaced. First, a bunch of Austrians claim to have eclipsed Laak’s new benchmark by some 20 hours. Second,questions are being raised about whether proper Guinness World Record protocols were observed in monitoring Laak’s feat. You just know this is going to end with some fool dying during one of these attempts, which will only give anti-gambling crusaders more ammunition for their cause of protecting players from self-harm.
