Most of humanity follow the path of least resistance. It’s an internal GPS thing. Once in a while, a group emerges to buck the trend, choosing the flat with no hot water, outdoor toilet life of online poker.
It’s not all unicorns and rainbows, you know.

partypoker’s POWERFEST is in full swing, and the biggest winner over the past few days is no mashed potato. What a stunning 12-18 months it’s been for Andras “probirs” Nemeth, and the heat continues with a victory in a $10,300 buy-in, $1m GTD Championship Event 8-Max, beating 127-entrants, to bank the $311,150 first prize.
As one would expect for a $10,300 buy-in event, Nemeth wasn’t the only person wearing a bow tie. The PocketFives #3 World Ranked player defeated Mike “ilove2fish” Telker, heads-up, to claim the crown; Conor “ADRIEN_BRODY” Beresford and Joao “joaosimaobh” Simao also made the final table, with Sam Trickett finishing 11th.

The Hungarian has now won $12.6m in online tournament winnings, and only four more people alive or dead have won more.
partypoker Pros Excel in POWERFEST
While Nemeth waits for partypoker to snap him up as a sponsored pro, two people who have a key to that particular house also picked up POWERFEST wins over the past few days.
Dzmitry “Dzmitry_Urbanov” Urbanovich won a $5.50 buy-in, $5k GTD PKO Fast 8-Max, beating 1,452 entrants to win the $988 first prize. Urbanovich is a pup compared with Nemeth, earning close to $2m playing online tournaments. The Pole’s POWERFEST win was his 57th online tournament victory, 16 have come on partypoker. His most successful win came in September when he won the 71-entrant $10,300 buy-in 8-Game High Roller at the PokerStars World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) for $225,000.
It was also a booming POWERFEST week for Bertrand “ElkY” Grospellier who won a $530 Deep, Turbo 8-Max for $14,458 a few days shy of finishing third in the $1,050 buy-in, $200k GTD PKO 8-Max for $12,461.
Outside of the partypoker Team Pro workforce and Elio “donzledubru” Fox won a POWERFEST title collecting $101,098 after defeating 230-entrants in the $2,100 buy-in, $500k GTD PKO 8-Max. And the new PocketFives World #1 Roman “RomeOpro” Romanovsky topped a field of 129-entrants in the $2,100 buy-in, $200k GTD Sunday High Roller on PokerStars for $56,549. The Ukranian star overcame a final table that included Rui Ferreira, Cassio de Almeida Kiles, Adrian Mateos, Igor Kurganov and Sami Kelopuro.
GGPoker Announces $11.5m GTD Blade Tournament Series.
POWERFEST ends on April 14, but unlike Season 7 of Game of Thrones, high rollers won’t have to wait too long to find another environment to go to war.
Paul Burke, Head of GGPoker, has announced an $11.5m GTD Blade Tournament Series with most of the cast coming from the high stakes realm.
The series runs between April 14 – 21, with more than 100 high roller tournaments carrying buy-ins ranging between $200 – $10,000, 17 of which have guarantees exceeding $200k.
Highlights include

• April 14, 22:00 UTC+0 – $5K buy-in, $250K guarantee
• April 17, 00:00 UTC+0 – $10K buy-in, $250K guarantee

On an entirely different note, take the wheel in Latvia, and you could die. Latest Latvia road traffic reports reveal that 148 people died in 2018 due to road traffic accidents (78 deaths per million inhabitants) with only Romanians and Bulgarians killing more.
GGPoker aims to do their bit to reduce that rate by partnering with Enlabs’ Optibet Poke, becoming the third online poker operator to receive a licence in that neck of the woods.
