Enter the Catskills, a quiet town outside in rural New York, which is on the verge of becoming the state’s next great resort destination for world-class entertainment and gaming. Holding company Empire Resorts and its subsidiary Montreign have recently revealed plans to reimagine the Catskills as the ultimate entertainment destination with the opening of the new Montreign Resort Casino.
The complex is set to be developed by combining an 18-storey casino, hotel and entertainment complex to increase tourism in a promising market. The complex will feature an 80,000 sq.ft. casino with state-of-the-art equipment, as well as nearly 400 luxury rooms in a 4-star hotel with various dining and entertainment options.
“It’s a great development for the community of Catskills,” said Loren Mack, longtime resident of the Catskills. “It’s businesses like these that really bring in the revenue and enhance the local economy.”
Aside from the grandeur of the casino plans itself, Montreign and Empire Resort have also entered into an exclusive agreement with the Montecillo Motor Club, a privately-owned racetrack and country club, which gives Montreign Resort Casino the allure of being the only casino on the east coast to offer guests the experience of driving high-performance vehicles on a private track.
“It’s just unbelievable — the kind of development they are planning to build here in the Catskills,” Mack added. “I’m sure there will be a lot of people to benefit from this. I grew up here, and to see this sort of development in my community, it’s such a great feeling.”
Casinos bring in tremendous business, not just because they draw in high rollers and those who love to game, but also because casinos are the prime location for some of the world’s biggest sporting events.
“We are a New York company committed to creating good-paying union jobs in the region, while generating much needed revenue for the community,” said Emanuel Pearlman, Chairman of Empire Resorts.
“Our intention is simple: the rebirth of the hospitality and tourism industries in the Catskills. This type of out-of-the-box thinking, coupled with our deep-rooted community engagement, will produce a resort experience seen nowhere else in the United States.”
A few mainstream sports have built their following around the casino ecosystem, most prominently horse racing and professional boxing. Most recently, Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) which is the fastest growing sport in the world, is the latest to utilize the customer base of nearby casinos to draw in a live audience.
Needless to say, potential investors and customers are excited at the possibilities.
“Where else on the East Coast can you check in to your hotel, enjoy a day at a luxury gaming facility, and then learn the art of high-performance driving in a fleet of exotic cars at a private country club race track?” asked Ari Straus, partner and CEO of Monticello Motor Club.
“Through this exclusive arrangement with Empire, Montreign’s premium guests will have that very option.”
