While the UK waits to see what the government will do about betting tax, Ireland has nailed its colours firmly to the mast, confirming that it will tax online betting and introduce licenses for overseas betting providers, in order to secure funding for the racing industry. Whether this will work or not is open to debate, though, as online operators do most marketing and customer acquisition online.
