3-Barrels of pure value including PKR celebrating a decade in business by opening a new PKR Live Casino; PokerStars roll out a new Spin & Go promotion where players can win a $5,000 holiday; and iPoker change their tournament schedule including raking rebuys and add-ons.
What’s so special about the 17 August 2006?
It was the birth of PKR, of course.
The only 3D poker room in the world is 10-years old and to celebrate they are delving deeper into the casino business with the launch of PKR Live Casino.
PKR CEO, Chris Welch, wants to remind everyone that poker is the ‘DNA of PKR’, but both him and his team can’t ignore the exceptional revenue that is coming through the site’s casino channel.
With this in mind, PKR has partnered with Evolution Gaming to create a Live Dealer Casino option on the site. Six games are available: Live Blackjack, Live Roulette, Live Casino Hold’em, Live Baccarat, Live Caribbean Stud Poker, Live Three Card Poker, and it’s good to see PKR bust out the sexy male dealers as well as the female ones.
PKR is virtually unrecognisable from a decade ago. A proud company that did its own thing for many years PKR joined the Microgaming Poker Network (MPN) in the springtime, and in July they became the first poker site on the MPN to launch a Jackpot Sit & Go variation.
PKR Live is available on both desktop and mobile devices.
Welch has promised further ‘radical’ developments shortly.
PokerStars Spin & Go Holiday Promotion
PokerStars continue to promote their Spin & Go product with the announcement of a new Spin & Go Holiday promotion.
The new promotion gives players the opportunity to win a $5,000 luxury holiday of your choosing for only $0.50. You can even win one for free if you are a newcomer to PokerStars, and are opening an account for the first time.
PokerStars are putting some weight behind the promotion promising multi-national television and digital advertising campaigns.
Players competing at the $0.50 tables have a 5:1,000,000 chance of winning the $5,000 holiday. Players who finish second and third pick up a $500-holiday package worth a few days in Skegness.
Players can also win an array of smaller cash prizes during the promotion.
iPoker Spruce Up Their Tournament Schedule And Rake Rebuys And Add-Ons
The iPoker Network gave their online multi-table tournament (MTT) schedule a paint job this past week.
There is a touch of the European Poker Tour (EPT) about things with payouts increasing to 18-20%, and a PokerStars feel with rake now taken from rebuys and add-ons.
Complaints have poured forward from pros who use the site with the main gripe being the lack of communication about the changes to the rebuys and add-ons, as well as the rake changes themselves.
One poster on 2+2 commenting on the changes by the name of f3nix35 said:
“Either the new schedule and payouts was made by an accountant who has never played poker before let alone understands the eco-system or they are simply trying to kill off tournament poker.”
2+2 poster Ledders called the new structure ‘utterly ridiculous’ and said it ‘favours nobody.’
The iPoker network includes online poker rooms located at the likes of William Hill, Coral, and PaddyPower.
Their slogan is Always a Full House.
According to the feedback on the new tournament schedule, one assumes they may have to change that.
