The world’s largest online poker room, PokerStars, have hired Gravity Road, to leverage the social media reach of Brazilian stars past and present: Neymar and Ronaldo, in a new global ad campaign.
PokerStars are set to leverage the social media appeal of their two Brazilian sports stars with another global ad campaign.
Former Brazilian World Cup legend Ronaldo, and current Brazilian star Neymar Jr. will feature in a new ad campaign that will sweep across social media platforms like wildfire according to press reports.
London-based bundle of creativity Gravity Road is the team with the responsibility of creating a gambling/gaming/groovy epic after besting the field in a competitive pitch for the chance to work with the two stars of the footballing world past and present.
PokerStars Associate Director for Advertising, Simon Tilbury, knew the PokerStars Sports Star roster contained some of the world’s biggest talent, but he needed a team that could turn that into a ‘Big Idea’. Gravity Road is that team and he said he was ‘impressed’ by their ‘understanding of the content’ and can’t wait to see them roll out the product.
Gravity Road’s founding partner, Mark Boyd, said he was delighted to be working with ‘some of the biggest social talents in the world.’
And they are not that bad at football either!
Barcelona star Neymar Jr. has 22.1m Twitter followers, 49.5m Instagram followers, and over 56 million ‘likes’ on Facebook. Ronaldo has 319,000 Twitter followers, 4.3m Instagram followers, and over 9 million ‘likes’ on Facebook.
There is no place in the new ad campaign for the Portuguese and Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo.
Mark Boyd and Mark Eaves founded Gravity Road back in 2011 and they have a simple vision to create things that people want to spend time with.
Here is an example of work they have done for Mikado.
And Three UK.
Rinse, Repeat
It’s the second time that PokerStars have leveraged their relationship with their football stars in a global ad campaign.
In August 2015, Stars launched their largest advertising campaign in their history, starring Brazilian stars Neymar Jr and Ronaldo Nazario, and the Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo.
Vaughan Arnell produced the two videos that showcased on Facebook before airing globally through TV broadcasts.
Neymar Jr Ends the Season in Style
Neymar Jr finished the Spanish football season in style after scoring the second and decisive goal in Barcelona’s 2-0 extra time victory over Europa League winners Sevilla in the final of the Copa Del Rey.
The success means Barcelona finished the season with the Double after finished a single point ahead of rivals Real Madrid in La Liga. The side scored an incredible 112 La Liga goals, and Neymar netted 24 of them. He also scored three times in the Champions League, and four times in the Copa Del Rey.
