Gamesman marked its 19th consecutive appearance at ICE, with a record breaking donation to charity. The gaming equipment components and systems manufacturer confirmed that it had raised a total of £50,000, to be shared between the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity and Mesothelioma UK. The total is double the fundraising target Gamesman set itself 12 months previously at ICE 2015.
Reflecting on the success of the campaign, Gamesman’s Mark Smith said: “When we made the pledge to raise £25,000 for our two charity partners, it was to be honest, something of a leap in the dark. However, and thanks to the fortitude, determination and tremendous generosity of the team at Gamesman, our colleagues and our customers in the international casino industry, we not only achieved our target – we doubled it! £50,000 is a wonderful sum and I know that Mesothelioma UK will be using its share to help pay the salary of one of its nursing team.”
He added: “James Cove, our Technical Director and dear friend, contracted this particularly aggressive form of lung cancer aged just 43 and it was fantastic that he was with us at ICE, as he has been for each of the previous 18 years.
“My sincere thanks go to everyone in the industry who has supported us so generously and to Kate Chambers and the team at ICE for, once again, putting on such a magnificent event for the global industry, for helping us to launch Target 25K at ICE 2015 and complete, what turned out to be Target 50K at ICE 2016, Gamesman’s ‘home show’.”
