A PokerStars insider has revealed that the opening event of the 2016 Turbo Championship of Online Poker (TCOOP) could be facing a $500,000 overlay.
The world’s largest online poker room is promising $15 million in prizes over a series of 50 TCOOP events. The first event, TCOOP-01 $27 No-Limit Hold’em (NLHE) 6-Max Turbo, starts the ball rolling with a $1.5m guarantee. It seems people aren’t as interested as the forecasters predicted.
The event is the first three-phase tournament that PokerStars has ever included in any of their Championship of Online Series (COOP). The event runs Jan 17-21. PokerStars needs to gain the attention of 61,100 entrants before the final Phase 1 kicks off on Jan 21. Players can enter as many Phase 1 legs as they choose. Get cracking.
The events carrying the largest guarantees of 2016 TCOOP are as follows:
• TCOOP – 16: $700 NL Hold’em Turbo Progressive Super-Knockout – $1m GTD
• TCOOP – 47 $2,100 NLHE Turbo High Roller – $1m GTD
• TCOOP – 49 $700 NLHE Main Event Turbo – $2m GTD
• TCOOP – 50 $215 NLHE Wrap Up Hyper Turbo, Deep 1R1A – $1m GTD
