Movie Director Antony Vidmer has taken the honors at the Card Player Poker Tour Main Event in Jacksonville, after agreeing a three-way ICM chop with Sean Rean and Heng Zhang.
Antony Vidmer has won the 2015 Card Player Poker Tour (CPPT) Main Event in Jacksonville. He picked up $83,838 after topping a final table that included the likes of Timothy Miles and Darryll Fish.
The $1,500 buy-in event attracted 390 players and created a total prize pool of $526,500. 46 players received a minimum $2,000 including the likes of John Dolan (13th) and Aaron Mermelstein (17th).
Speaking to Card Player representatives after his win, Vidmer said:
“This isn’t my biggest payday, but it is the biggest tournament I’ve won. I’ve won a few other tournaments but they are usually Omaha-eight. I like playing those tournaments.”
According to Vidmer’s Hendon Mob statistics he has now won a smidgen under $300,000 in live tournament earnings. His biggest score to date was a third place finish in a 2012 World Series of Poker Circuit (WSOPC) event taking home $92,925.
Vidmer started the final table with the second shortest stack. He was in good company. Timothy Miles had $1.2m in live tournament scores under his belt, including a $295,203 first place win at the Seminole Hard Rock Tampa Summer Poker Open in 2014. And Darryl Fish brought his $1.8m in live tournaments cashes to the table. Fish is having a good year winning $173,189 and a WSOPC gold ring, and $152,402 for finishing third at the WSOPC National Championships. But neither Miles nor Fish were anywhere to be seen as Vidmer locked up a three-way ICM chop with Sean Rean and Heng Zhang.
In 2003, Vidmer wrote and directed the movie High Roller: The Stu Ungar story. Sopranos star Michael Imperioli played the role of Ungar. In 2007 Vidmer created his own independent film festival. It carried the name Fylmz Festival and it awarded $100,000 to the Best Feature Film.
