888Poker roll out a new World Series of Poker promotion, a new lineup on the 888Poker Special Poker After Dark, and reduce the guarantees in XL Inferno.
The World Series of Poker (WSOP) and 888Poker go together like opera houses and Sydney. The pair have shared the same orbit for the past five years, and that makes the online poker room the perfect place to qualify for the Christmas Day of poker.
Over the past two years, 888Poker has led with the 8-Team promotion where online qualifiers joined national teams spearheaded by 888Poker Ambassadors to compete in the WSOP, with the winner of the points-based system winning a seat into the WSOP Main Event.
888 hasn’t announced plans to ditch the 8-Team concept, but it has broadcast its new creation: 2019 WSOP 888Poker Squad, and that must mean the epitaph for 8-Team.
The new promo is a lot simpler than the old one. If you qualify for a WSOP Main Event package via one of 888Poker’s many satellites, then you join the ‘2019 WSOP – 888Poker Squad.’
Here are your perks.
• Coaching from the 888Poker ambassadors.
• The chance to hang out with Chris Moorman, Kara Scott, Martin Jacobson, Dominik Nitsche, Vivian Saliba, Sofia Lovgren and Ana Marquez.
• Free dinner on Day 1C courtesy of All American Dave
• Access to 888Poker’s exclusive shuttle service to/from the Rio
• A month free subscription to PokerGO
• The one who lasts the longest wins a seat to the 2020 WSOP Main Event.

Kara may returns; Poker After Dark lineup; XL Inferno begins
The imagery for the ‘2019 WSOP – 888Poker Squad’ promotion includes Kara Scott. That’s good news for Scott fans, as she has spent the past year on maternity leave after the birth of her first child, and Robbie Strazynski caught up with her to talk about life, children and poker right here.
The lineup for 888’s next foray onto PokerGO’s Poker After Dark is also in the public sphere. Two online qualifiers have won a seat in the game of a lifetime. Over two nights May 21 & 22, an online qualifier will sit down to compete with 888Poker Ambassadors Dominik Nitsche and Chris Moorman. Rounding up the six-max action will be the US Poker Master Ali Imsirovic, the WSOP bracelet winner and actress Jennifer Tilly, and 50 Cent’s arch-nemesis Randall Emmett.
Last but not least, 888’s XL Inferno Series is back.
From May 16 – 26, 888Poker lays the red carpet at the feet of 34 tournaments with more than $1.4m in guaranteed prize money. The May 25 Main Event has a $250 buy-in and a $500,000 Guarantee where you sit down with 50,000 in chips and 20-minute level blinds.
That’s a marked reduction on this time last year when Jonathan ‘JohnFoot’ Proudfoot won the XL Inferno $1,050 buy-in Main Event when the guarantee was $1m. 855 entrants (inc. 304 re-entries) created a $1,159,000 prize pool, and Proudfoot collected $209,779 in prize money.
