3: Barrels: partypoker Xmas Freeze; PPLIVE$ Russian deal & Mothes GP win

Lee Davy turns into a theatre usher to show you three clips featuring the online poker giants partypoker including a new $10m GTD Christmas Series, a surprise for PPLIVE$ users and the results from the Grand Prix Gala Germany.

One year, I got a fort with cowboys and Indians. I remember that. The black and white portable was the best year – the ones with the steel aerial that you had to mess about with to get a picture. I also got a second-hand BMX that year. I remember watching Indiana Jones on my TV thinking I was so grown up. But most of all, I remember moving to South Wales and waking up to one present: Crossbows and Catapults and feeling an intense sadness.

Bah humbug!

It’s materialism gone mad.

It’s a pain in the arse.

Dung beetles push a lot of shit, but they don’t have to put up with this shit.

If I had my way, I would play poker all day, and there has never been as much choice as 2018.

The paint had barely dried on PokerStars’ Winter Series promotion when partypoker announced their contribution to our festive season, a $10m GTD Christmas Freeze series.

From December 25 through to January 6, partypoker gift wraps 201 Freezeout events, 45 of which have guarantees of $100,000 or more. You can compete in all manner of No-Limit Hold’em tournaments with a few Pot-Limit Omaha (PLO) events thrown in for good measure.

The only one consistent theme is all events are Freezeout aligning with their recent decision to make the Power Series 95% Freezeout, and MILLIONS Live Main Events 100% Freezeout.

Players can compete for as little as $3.30 or as high as $1,500, and you can take a gander at the full schedule here while doing the Can Can and showing your knickers to the peeps sitting on the front row.

partypoker to Pay Expenses for the First 100-Entrants of the WPT Russia Main Event

The switch from online satellite qualification to live events to PP LIVE Dollars has courted some controversy in some quarters of the poker media, but partypoker is not about to pop the balloon on that idea in the foreseeable future.

And with good reason.

During January 13-27 the World Poker Tour (WPT) partners with partypoker during their first foray into Russia with WPT Russia live and direct from the Sochi Resort & Casino, and partypoker is giving the first 100 players who use PP LIVE Dollars to buy into the Main Event $300 in cash that they can spend at their leisure.

Pierre Mothes Wins partypoker Grand Prix Germany.

The word on Marvin’s grapevine is that Pierre Mothes has taken down the €550, €500,000 GTD Grand Prix Gala at the King’s Casino in Rozvadov.

Mothes, who hails from Germany, had earned close to $500,000 playing live tournaments before this win, but I get the impression he spends most of his time playing high stakes cash games.

The win is only his second live tournament cash of the year after coming 56/534 in the World Series of Poker Europe (WSOPE) Main Event, and his best score to date remains the €102,410 he received for finishing third in the €25,000 Super High Roller during the World Series of Poker Circuit’s (WSOP) visit to Rozvadov in November 2015.

Mothes earned €51,098 in what looks like a seven-handed deal that saw Daniele Trippi lock up the top prize of €57,634. The event attracted 3,538-entrants.
