Coolbet was launched a month ago, just in time for Euro 2016. In a time where utmost of new online gaming companies are using white label solutions, whether its Casino or Sports, Coolbet has developed an own platform and Sportsbook. The idea is clearly to be able to be different and offering great products and focus on innovation. In addition to sportsbetting Coolbet offers casino games from NetEnt and Microgaming.
Coolbet is founded by Jan Svendsen which also founded Nordic Gaming Group (NordicBet & Triobet) in 2002. Svendsen is an old timer in the industry with over 30 years of experience. It’s not only Svendsen with experience in the group as its over 200 years of experience in Coolbet already. “It’s hardly been a startup with so much experience in this industry ever” says Svendsen. Currently Coolbet has 40 employees.
“It took us 16 months to develop Coolbet from scratch, which is a big achievement in itself, and with new technologies, new thoughts and ideas we believe we are well prepared to offer something new in this kind of static industry” explains Svendsen.
Coolbet is the first Sportsbook to show the turnover and amount of bets for a specific match. “That is unique and part of what makes us special. We want to be completely open with information to our customers. In an industry with still lots of secrets and where you don’t know which persons are behind a company we do things the opposite. It’s all about trust. For instance everyone can see who is in the Management group on Coolbet and I even have my personal blog and contact info available there. One more important consequence of showing the turnover is that it can be used to monitor and prevent match fixing, says Svendsen. Preventing match-fixing and illegal/irregular betting is also among UNODC priorities.
Jan Svendsen is also the CEO of Coolbet, but not the regular CEO type. “I compile odds as well. My leagues are the top football leagues in Norway and English Premier League. I have been compiling odds for decades and want to have an opinion about what our customers prefer to bet on. Speaking about odds. When we launched we had odds on all events in Olympics in Rio coming up this summer as the only Sportsbook in the world. We want to give the message to our customers and the market that we are independent and do things our own way. Euro 2016 is another example. So far we have been market leading on almost every favourite, even higher than the betting exchanges, Svendsen expresses.
With the amount of similar online gaming companies that is using the same third party provider it’s hard to differentiate yourself. Whether it’s the odds offered or the design and usability of the site. “From the beginning we wanted a site that is very clean and only has a minimum of banners and other distractions. I think we have succeeded very well on that part. We also want control of our own software that makes it easier to develop new things. We already have a long roadmap with features that we want to develop. Development time wise we are miles in front of many of our competitors with use of the newest technologies available” explains Svendsen.
Coolbet hast mostly Norwegian owners, company registered in Estonia and has an Estonian license that is regulated for both Estonian and non-Estonian customers. Coolbets core markets are Norway, Sweden, Finland and Estonia. Currently Coolbet offers Sports and Casino.
