PokerStars prepare for their return to Dublin, after a two-year hiatus, with a 67-event behemoth of a festival with events ranging in buy-ins from €100 to €25,000.
PokerStars are preparing to paint the Emerald Isle red.
They are returning to the Irish capital after a two-year hiatus; and eight years since a European Poker Tour (EPT) Main Event was held in the country.
The PokerStars United Kingdom & Ireland Poker Tour (UKIPT) was last in town in Season 4. Kevin Killeen topping a field of 682 entrants in the €770 No-Limit Hold’em (NLHE) Main Event preventing Max Silver from becoming a two-time UKIPT champ. The Irishman picked up €87,700 for the win.
The last time the EPT came to town was in Season 4 when the American Reuben Peters finished ahead of a field of 221 entrants to capture the €532,620 first prize. Peters defeated Sheldon Adelson’s unwitting pawn, Annette Obrestad, in heads-up action.
Times have changed since then.
PokerStars live events are now huge.
The EPT12 Dublin Festival will be the largest PokerStars have held in the city. 67-events will take place over 12-days. There is something from everything: €100 Flipouts and a €25,000 High Roller (although what’s the point in entering as Steve O’Dwyer already has it won).
The event takes place at the Royal Dublin Society. The action starts Feb 9. Players will need Valentine Day excuses at the ready.
“It’s my job.”
“Of course it is my dear.”
The EPT will once again link arms with the UKIPT.
Here are the highlights:
Feb 10-14 – €1,100 UKIPT Dublin Main Event
Feb 12-14 – €25,000 High Roller
Feb 13-14 – €2,000 UKIPT High Roller
Feb 14-20 – €5,300 EPT Dublin Main Event
Feb 15 – €10,000 Single Day High Roller
Feb 18-20 – €10,000 EPT High Roller
PokerStars has already seen 148+ players qualify for the Main Event via online satellites, and 293+ have qualified for the UKIPT Main Event.
There will also be a mixed chess/poker tournament, and EPT cash games running 24-hours a day.
