Todd Rebello Leads Day 1B WPT Borgata Winter Poker Open

A bumper field at Day 1B of the WPT Borgata Winter Poker Open saw 450 players advance from a huge field of 806 entrants and Todd Rebello was the man with the biggest chip stack in the field standing at 229,825 chips tall. In a nice touch the Borgata refunded his buy-in for finishing the day as the chip leader.

This fantastic Day 1B showing means that the total field size stands at 1,229, making it the second largest WPT Main Event in the tours history. Interestingly, the three largest fields in WPT history all came at the Borgata so you can see why they have switched the WPT World Championships to this popular venue.

Players who bit the proverbial dust included WPT Champions Club members, Chino Rheem, Jonathan Little and Matt Waxman. Ebony Kenney, Vanessa Selbst and Bryn Kenney also headed the same way.

Those that advance included WPT Champions Club members Mike Linster, Comel Cimpan, Shawn Cunix, Andy Frankenberger and the legend that is Mike Sexton.

Ayman Zbib Leads Day 1B EPT Deauville

It’s not often that the WPT trumps the EPT for attendance figures but that’s exactly what has happened as the two tournament organizers square off from each side of the Atlantic.

Day 1B at EPT Deauville saw 433 players sit down to duel, and although registration will stay open until the start of Day 2, it looks like the WPT Borgata Winter Poker Open will be smashing the Deauville event over the net in terms of player numbers.

The chip leader was Ayman Zbib who cashed in this same event back in 2012 for an 81st place finish. The man from Lebanon finished the day with 181,400 chips meaning he will be the Day 2 chip leader when action resumes at noon (EST).

Exits from the Day 1B field included Steve O’Dwyer, Jake Cody and the reigning champion Remi Castaignon.
